Spud Day... 5K

Yesterday was the famous Shelley Spud Day and for the last couple of years my dad has been running the 5K. This year was the first time any one dared run against my dad and it just so happened to be Travis. So my mom and I woke up bright and early to go and cheer them on.

At the first of the race Travis told my dad he was just going to stick by him and than my dad said the next thing he knew he saw Travis taking off. I think Trav's competitive side kicked in and he didn't want the 62 year old man in front of them to beat him.

Kellie and the kids also showed up to cheer them on and we sat on the corner and ate our donuts as all the runners ran past us to the finish line. Maybe next year I'll run instead eating donuts on the sidelines!

A lIttle Bit of {Now & Then}

{Now}

Meet The girls who I love and Look up to so Much {Kapri, Jessica, Jill, Melody & Katie}. I am so blessed to have such great girls to be friends with. Well it's been a couple years since we all lived together but I still think about those days with these girls and laugh about all the things we went through together. This last week we were able to get together since Jill was in town from Chicago So I thought I'd put together a little picture tribute of now and then. (Somehow my picture from this week got erased from my memory card. So if one of you girls have a copy I would love it!)

{THEN}

So Many PROJECTS... So Little TIME

About three weeks ago Travis and I moved into a different apartment. So my mind hasn't stopped turning of ideas on how to decorate our apartment and make it feel like home. So I've finally got things unpacked and under control so now here come the projects.{ CURTAINS & QUILTS}

These bright colors make it so I {LOVE} to be in my kitchen cooking or even more surprising cleaning! I even want to paint my kitchen bright orange or green but my landlords {my MOM & DAD} thought that may be too extreme so I guess I will have convert them to the idea slowly!

This Damask style is what I am putting in my dining and living room! I have also been trying to find some wall paper this style to put on one wall but so far no luck so we'll start with this. When I showed my mom my fabric she said it reminded her of when she was a little girl and how she wanted some wall paper just like this. { I guess like mother like daughter}

Ok my favorite one of all! {Project ZEBRA} I have finally convinced Travis to let me decorate our room with zebra print. So I am not holding back. I found this zebra fabric and thought it would make our room complete. These projects are only a few of the ones I want to complete on my list but I have to continually tell myself I can only handle so many at a time. So once I have a finished project I will post pictures.

Boston Jersey, Craigo's Pizza, & Segways

One Big Difference that Travis and I have is concerning Birthdays: My Philosophy on Birthday's is go Big or go Home! Trav's philosophy he would cancel it if he could. So one of my goals in our marriage is to change his mind, which has been harder than I imagined.

So Travis's Birthday was first on the 5th of July and he actually shares his Birthday with my sister Kellie. So one of the things I did to try and make it a special day for him was hide random presents in everyday spots he goes or looks. For example I got him a nice belt to replace his stretchy baseball belt he's been wearing everyday. Well I hung it on our bathroom door with a special note.

Another thing I wanted to do was invite his family over for cake and ice cream. He has been having such a great time golfing with his dad and brothers this summer that I thought it would be fun to make him a golf cake. Well lets just say it didn't turn out quite how I wanted but isn't it the thought that counts.

Ok Now for my Birthday! Travis did such a good job in trying to make it a special day for me. The best part is he tried surprising me by renting segways for the night.( He gets so mad because I always guess his secrets). But i was still way excited we have been talking about doing this for a couple months now.

So we rode around Idaho Falls for a couple hours just the two of us and than we met up with my family at the community park and had Craigo's Buffalo Wing Thing pizza and we let my family try out the segways. We were so shocked that my 4 & 6 Year old nieces and nephews were able to ride them so easily. Now all they want to do for their birthdays is rent segways.

One of the Best Parts of my Birthday is the present Travis got me. As most of you probably know Travis and I have major differences when it comes to baseball teams. He's all for the Braves and I'm all for THe Boston Red Sox mostly because I love the City Boston, and because they are awesome. So I have been telling him that I want a Red Sox Jersey and he kept on refusing saying that it would be going against everything he believes. So he definelty surprised me when I opened up my present to see an authentic Boston Jersey I absolutely love it. Man that guy must love me if he's going against everything he believes! All in-all it was a great Birthday( The only thing missing was Melody and Mom they weren't there they were in Nashville For FCCLA Nationals.) But they definetly hooked me up with some good presents so I guess I'll let them off the hook.

DiSNeyLAnD

So its been almost a week since we got back from our trip DISNEYLAND. We had such a great time and we are glad that Devry and Preston were able to put up with us because it wouldn't have been the same without them. But needless to say we made memories while we were there. Here are a few pictures to show.
Travis and I at Universal Studios with this family who thought we wanted them in our picture!
Universal Studios was one of Travis's favorite parts of the trip.
Amazing enough we were able to fit all four of us inside the tea cup. (P.S. we didn't even make it on this ride because everyone except for me gets sick when they go in circles like that.)
If you can't tell I am freezing in this picture. Most of the days we were there it was surprisingly cold. I thought that was just an Idaho thing!

On our way to CALIFORNIA we spent the night in LAS VEGAS and visited the strip.

mY pRInCE cHARmINg!
One of my favorite parts of the trip was the first day in California when we went to an Anaheim Angels vs. Boston Red Sox game. I was super excited about this because my favorite team is the Red Sox and although they lost they definetly didn't let us down. They had two times where both teams cleared the dug outs fighting with each other and than there were 5 people in our section who got kicked out. Talk about entertaining.

Travis and I anxiously awaiting the game. (He was pretty exicted that my Red Sox didn't win the game.. Big Shocker Huh?!)
The teams clearing the dug outs even the pitchers warming up ran across the field to join in.Devry and I with the Easter Bunny at the Game on Easter Sunday

Police make me nervous...

So a couple weekends ago Melody had come down and we were driving to Idaho Falls to meet Kapri for lunch. Well I had to take Trav's car because he has been pulled over like 6 times in the month for his front head light being out. So I thought I'd save Travis another late night pull-over experience and take his car. Well as Melody and I are driving down one of the back roads I noticed there was a cop behind me. Cops just make me so nervous and I just knew if they followed me long enough they would find some reason to pull me over. So I made a decision to turn early and continue on our way hoping the cop wouldn't follow.

So thats exactly what I did I took the early turn well so did the cop. This is when I really start to get nervous. I knew that he was following me know so I was trying to find a way to lose him and Melody comes up with a bright idea!! There was this Christ Community Church and people were pulling in so Melody told me to turn in and act like we were going to church. So of course I followed her advice. After a few minutes of sitting in the parking lot we decide to head back on our way but we decided to go back the way we were going in the first place.

So a couple of minutes pass by and I look back in my mirror and I swore I saw the cop car behind me. Melody convinced that it was just a car with a ski rack. Well after it snuck up closer it was defintely the cop.

By this time I am freaking out! How did he find me? How did he know I was trying to lose him?
So Melody decides we need to make a cover story for ditching into the church parking lot. So our plan was to say we were "dropping of a casserole?"

Now 5 minutes of full out panick has gone by and I still have not been pulled over. Plus I wasn't sure the speed limit for the road we were on so I was going 25.. I just wanted to get pulled over and get it over with. We finally turn down the last stretch until we were we needed to be to meet Kapri and of course the cops lights flip on.

So I finally pull over and am gearing up for what is to come and what relief I had when I saw this shorter blonde hair guy step out of the car. I flung open my door and starting dying laughing. It was one of our good friends from BYU-Idaho, he has just started his job as a cop in Idaho Falls. I was so relieved, but one of the best parts is he couldn't figure out who was with me so he tried calling Travis to ask him when I started going to this new church...
Well maybe not all cops are so bad.. Some have sense of humors!!

The Countdown is ON!

As you can probably see by the countdown clock on my page we are going to Disneyland. Travis and I and our friends Devry and Preston are driving to California and staying there for six days. They are going to be the best six days because they will be filled with days at Disneyland and Universal Studios, the beach, shopping and much more. The best part is that both of the boys have both never been to Disneyland and I know they are going to love it! So I thought I'd share my excitement with everyone with this countdown clock.
